Utilities

When transferring utilities, like electricity, heat and water, have your account number, new address, and a drivers license or social security number ready for identification.

Have service turned off at your old address the day after you move out, and request that any deposits be returned.  Contact the local utilities serving your new address to have the service connected a day before you move in.

Cancel (or transfer, if appropriate) newspaper delivery at your old address.
